What affects the price

  • Size & volume: acres cleared or cubic yards of dirt moved.
  • Access & slope: gate width, steep ground and soft spots change which machines fit.
  • What’s in the ground: rock, clay, roots and stumps.
  • Haul-off: keeping spoil and debris on site costs less than trucking it away.
  • Permits & timing: inspections, erosion control and weather.

Safety first: we call 811 before every dig

Tennessee law requires anyone digging, grading or demolishing to contact Tennessee 811 so buried utility lines get marked. It’s free. Here’s what that means for your timeline:

  1. We request the locate at least 3 working days (and no more than 10) before we start.
  2. Utilities mark their lines with paint or flags. We wait for the legal start date on the ticket.
  3. Private lines such as a well pipe, septic, or a line to a shop or barn usually aren’t marked by 811, so please point those out to us.

FAQ

Common questions

How much does land clearing or excavation cost?

It depends on size, how thick the trees and brush are, slope, access, rock and whether debris is hauled away or mulched on site. We give a written quote after a site visit, and photos help us give a ballpark sooner.

Do I need a permit?

Sometimes. Building, grading, demolition and land-disturbance permits vary by city and county, and larger disturbed areas can need erosion-control plans. We’ll tell you what we know applies and help you check with [the local office]. [Owner: list who pulls which permits.]

How long will my job take?

Many residential jobs take [1–3] days once we start. Add at least 3 working days for 811 utility locates, plus any permit time and weather delays.

What happens to the stumps and trees?

Options include grinding or grubbing stumps, mulching brush on site, or hauling everything off. Haul-off costs more but leaves the site clean. [Owner: note any firewood or burning policy; open burning may need a permit.]

What if you hit rock or bad soil?

Rock, springs and soft clay are common here. If we find something that changes the scope, we stop and talk with you before any extra work or cost.

Will a pond hold water on my land?

Soil makes the biggest difference. Ponds need enough clay to seal. We look at your soil and water source first and tell you honestly if it’s a poor spot.

Do I need to be home?

Not for most of the job. We do want to walk the site with you at the start (to mark wells, septic and private lines) and at the end.

Do you offer financing?

[Placeholder: add only if the owner actually offers financing or payment plans, with the provider’s terms.]

Do you do storm clean-up or emergency work?

[Placeholder: e.g. “Yes, when storms bring trees down, we prioritize blocked driveways and damaged structures.” Owner to confirm availability.]

Ready to get your ground ready?

Send photos and a few details. We’ll get back to you with next steps.
